I recently traveled to Montana and on a recommendation, stopped in Carters. Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful and much to my own surprise, I ended up buying a pair of boots. I requested a slight a different heel and they were able to accommodate my request! I flew home and the boots were delivered to my house shortly thereafter. They are absolutely beautiful and I am so so happy with them. Highly recommend.
We needed a shoe that would give good protection from slippery ice, but that would also be safe on bare sidewalks...a combination of conditions that we see here a lot in the winter when walking around the neighborhood. The "ice grippers" that can be put on shoes or boots can be dangerous when walking on concrete or smooth surfaces..so this was not an option. I took an old pair of shoes in with worn-down soles, and Jeff re-soled them and added some "artic grip", and wow, they are great.!! My husband has feet which are very difficult to find comfortable shoes for, so being able to continue to use these shoes, with the added confidence of good traction is a godsend! Carters had them back in half the estimated repair time, also. Such a nice crew to work with. Highly recommend Carters--they will find a solution for you!
I dropped off a $700 leather Kate Spade purse at the end of September 2021. It was going to be $80-100 to repair the straps. I told the person that I left it with that it was worth it, because the purse was worth several hundred dollars. They said they were really busy and weren’t sure when it was going to get done. I said no worries I don’t need this…put it at the bottom of your repair list. I didn’t hear anything and frankly forgot about it. I got a call on March 19, 2022 that it was ready for pick up. I went in on April 16 and was told they “sent it up the road.” I said where is “up the road”? Belgrade goodwill. They said if things are here more than a year they take them to goodwill. I said it was not a year…maybe six months and I had just got a call a few weeks ago. One of the workers confirmed that it was late September so six months, not a year. I explained this was a several hundred dollar purse (hence why it was at the repair shop). I was told “if I knew it had only been six months I would not have sent it.” There was no offer to remedy the situation in any way. I was told to go to Belgrade goodwill to look for it. I said if it had been two weeks the purse was gone. Anyone who saw that purse at GOODWILL would have snatched it up. Sure enough. I went to Belgrade Goodwill, and it was gone. Who does this? For one, if something is taken to a leather repair shop, it is worth the money to pay for the repair. For two, who calls and then gives a week for pick up? And when it is not picked up sends a persons’ property to goodwill? And then what business owner makes no effort to remedy the situation? I recommend staying far away from Carters. I will from now on.
Jeff and his team got me in quick for some leather repair work, fitting me in their already very busy schedule. It's great to see the shops like this that made Bozeman great in the first place, doing great work and keeping that small town Montana feeling alive. Would recommend 100%
After walking by Carter’s dozens of times in my ripped boots I’d bought online, I decided to stop by for a repair. The customer service I received was above and beyond. My boots are back in tip top shape and I am so glad I invested to have them repaired. The care and craftsmanship you receive at Carter’s is well worth it!
