We visited Erik's Ranch for their horseback riding experience. It was for my two little ones, 8 and 10 y/o, and myself. We each rode our own horse up a mountain trail and were guided by Casey & Brandon (hope I remember those names right). They were super helpful, caring, gave us good information about the area, and made the ride interesting. We would definitely come back again for this experience. To clarify, we did not spend the night here. Experience only.

Beautiful location. We stayed at the Creekside Cabin and loved the porch right next to the creek. Stargazing was awesome during the night time, and during the day the hikes and drives around the area were beautiful. The staff was very warm and welcoming too. A great experience overall.

We stayed at Erik’s ranch for multiple nights. The first night was in the stables and then some of our family stayed in the lodge while we stayed in the Cargill Earl Guesthouse. The stables were in the barn, but it was perfect for us. The rooms were surprisingly clean considering it was a barn. The lodge was huge with many common spaces to share. And the guesthouse was breathtaking. The views were incredible. The staff were available and so helpful any time we needed anything. We loved our stay at Erik’s!

This is not for everyone. There is only heat in the kitchen, no heat in the guest rooms, and bugs in the bed. There are no private bathrooms, and the communal bathroom has a window with no blinds that you can look into from the hillside. Staff was friendly but I feel bad for the kids they bring in from other states to work the ranch. They got me new sheets but didn’t even have the size for our bed. Not very clean, stains on the floors, and sheets. And there were electrical problems, lights not working, and fire alarms ripped out. Check in is only 3-5pm which is terrible if you’re trying to visit the National parks near by. A lot of the photos featured here and on Priceline are of the main house which you cannot enter. The views are pretty but I didn’t make it through my stay and booked elsewhere, because it got cold and I woke up with bug bites.

My wife and I stayed here (in the Creekside Cabin) for our 10th anniversary from July 18-28, 2022. We saw this on the Netflix show Amazing Rentals. We thought they had a great story and wanted to contribute to them. It was unseasonably warm the first week with it getting up to the high 90’s each day. The next week was a bit better with it getting to the low to mid 80’s. With that said, this particular house of theirs has NO A/C! We did know that before hand but had no idea how uncomfortable it would be. It was borderline inhabitable between noon and 11p. They provided one box fan which ran the entire time we were there. It was cooler outside. The overnight sleeping hours were the only “comfortable” times. The shower LOOKS nice but the pressure is embarrassingly low. All those nozzles look cool but can only use one at a time. There’s no door so the floor gets quite wet. The bathtub is a joke. It’s really narrow. The drain is in the middle so if you scoot down to rest your head on the tub, you’re then sitting on the drain which is uncomfortable. If you have your head on the opposing side of the spigot, then it’s a struggle to reach the hot/cold/on/off cuz there are zero handles. If you have your head on the spigot side, the water splashes everywhere or in your face. When you’re ready to get up and out, good luck, it’s quite difficult and slippery. I’m in decent shape at 41 and struggled. There’s a small stackable washer dryer. We used it a couple times. Bugs, omg the bugs! I woke up nearly every day with a new bug bite. There were always bugs in the kitchen sink in the morning due to the Wi-Fi cable leaving a gap in the screen in the window right behind the sink. We would wash dishes from making dinner the night before then have to rewash some the next morning. Def bring bug spray if you plan on being out during the twilight hours. For trash, their manual says to put it in the outside box. Well I looked all around the property and there was no box. Ended up taking it up to the lodge and they took it. That was also the ONLY interaction we had with the staff. The lady who “checked us in” was a neighbor helping out. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. The only thing I suggest adding is an ice cream scoop. Their manual says there’s no coffee provided so I assume the 3 different kinds that were there were left from previous guests. The views were fantastic! 40 minutes from Bozeman, 1 hour from Gardiner (Yellowstone north entrance), 30 minutes from Livingston, 2.5 hours from Billings Whatever car you drive, be ready for massive amounts of dust. The parts of the roads in and out are also hell on the shocks and suspension. For the price ($250/night), it was just ok. A window a/c unit would’ve made our stay exponentially better.
